Edinburgh awarded Paget's Centre of Excellence
The director of the Edinburgh Paget’s Association Centre of Excellence, Professor Stuart Ralston has, together with his team, conducted world-leading research into the causes and treatment of Paget’s disease.
A ceremony to recognise Edinburgh as a Paget's Association Centre of Excellence took place in March, at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, which is based at the Western General Hospital. A Paget’s educational event preceded the award presentation. Chaired by Prof Ralston and Dr Philip Riches, speakers included Dr Omar Albagha and Prof Donald Salter.
Presenting the award to Professor Ralston and his team, Professor Francis, Chairman of the Paget’s Association, commented, “The Paget’s Association is keen to foster close collaboration between clinicians treating the condition and also scientists investigating the causes and potential new treatments. Edinburgh, I feel, is an inspiring example of such collaboration with world leading clinical and basic scientific research conducted by Professor Ralston and his colleagues”.
