Paget's Disease of the Breast and Genitals
Over the last few months we have received a number of e-mails on the
subject of Paget's Disease of the Breast and Genitals. These enquiries
relate to a type of skin cancer which can affect either the breast or
the genitals and can occur in both men and women, but are in no way related
to Paget's Disease of the Bone which is a very different condition.
The only connection with Paget's Disease of Bone (which is where our
organisation's interest lies) is that both the bone disease and the skin
cancers were discovered by the same doctor, Sir James Paget, who was
Queen Victoria's surgeon. Unfortunately, although unrelated, both conditions
carry his name, which does cause some confusion.
If you want more information about the Paget's Disease of the Breast
and Genitals using the link to Cancer-Bacup may be able to help you.
They have a very good website which may be able to answer many of your
general question. Alternatively, if you live in the UK and choose to
telephone their helpline your call can be directed to a trained nurse,
contact details are:

Unfortunately, as a UK based charity they do not have the resources
to e-mail replies and respond to telephone calls from overseas enquirers,
but their database holds information about similar organisations in different
countries which may be useful to you.
